Why go to Rush Lake & Hopper Glacier
Hopper is a black-and-white glacier an hour from Karimabad. Above it, a three-day trek reaches Rush Lake at 4,694 m with Spantik, Malubiting and Rakaposhi on the skyline.
The Hopper valley in Nagar holds one of the most accessible big glaciers in the Karakoram — you can look down on it from the village road within two hours of leaving Karimabad. Walk onto it with a guide and the surface turns out to be rubble-covered ice moving slowly downhill. Above Hopper, the trek to Rush Lake climbs through Barpu and Miar glacier country to a lake that is, on most measures, among the highest alpine lakes in the world. It is a serious walk: three days up, two back, camping at altitude, with genuine glacier crossings. The reward is a 360-degree amphitheatre of 7,000 m peaks that very few people ever stand in.

Common questions
