Why go to Concordia & K2 Base Camp
The junction of the Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers, where K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II are all visible at once. Fourteen days of walking to get there.
Concordia is the most concentrated collection of high mountains anywhere on earth: stand on the glacier junction at 4,600 m and four of the world’s fourteen eight-thousanders are in view, with Masherbrum, Mitre Peak and the Trango Towers filling the gaps. The trek in follows the Braldu gorge from Askole, then the Baltoro glacier itself — around 62 km of moraine, ice and river crossings, with camps at Jhola, Paiju, Urdukas and Goro II. From Concordia it is another day to Broad Peak base camp and the Gilkey Memorial below K2. This is a genuine expedition: porters, tents, a cook crew and two weeks without a road.

Common questions
It is a long, high, cold walk rather than a technical climb — no ropes or ice axes on the standard route — but you are on glacier for a week at up to 5,150 m. Prior multi-day trekking experience is a requirement on our departures.
Trekking permits and a licensed guide are mandatory in the Central Karakoram National Park, and foreign nationals need additional clearance. All of it is handled as part of the package.
